The Wizard of Oz

Join us at Sundance Mountain Resort, where the majestic Mt. Timpanogos provides a breathtaking backdrop for this timeless tale of friendship and self-discovery.

In L. Frank Baum’s beloved classic, Dorothy’s Kansas farmhouse is carried away by a powerful twister, landing in the magical Land of Oz. Accompanied by new friends, Dorothy embarks on a journey to find her way home. Along the way, through enchanting lands and unforeseen challenges, they learn that the strength they seek has been within them all along.

in partnership with UVU’s School of the Arts

Each summer, the mountains come alive with stage lights, harmonies, and dancing feet at Sundance Mountain Resort. Since 2008, Sundance Mountain Resort and UVU’s School of the Arts have co-produced the Summer Theatre – this powerful collaboration has not only contributed to student success but has become a beloved tradition for families across the Wasatch. UVU plays a vital role in bringing these productions to life, helping provide the creative vision, technical talent, and artistic energy that makes each show an unforgettable experience for guests.

From directing and choreography to music direction, lighting design, and set construction, UVU’s faculty, students, and staff lend their professional expertise and fresh perspectives to every aspect of the production. It’s a partnership that blends the beauty of the mountains with the passion of live performance—and gives emerging artists real-world experience on a professional stage. While community members are welcome in the cast and crew, the heartbeat of the show comes from UVU’s creative force, who dedicate their summer to building a production that’s as breathtaking as its surroundings. The result is a one-of-a-kind theatrical tradition that delights audiences of all ages and honors the long-standing legacy of storytelling at Sundance.
