Romance at Sundance

*Guest post by Susan Strayer, from Mountain Mom and Tots

In July, my husband and I celebrated our thirteenth wedding anniversary. Thirteen is not known as a lucky number, but I feel pretty lucky we’re still happily married after all these years. I also feel lucky we were able to celebrate our anniversary at Sundance Mountain Resort.

Since my family lives near Sundance, it’s often our go-to spot for celebrations: birthdays, holidays, graduations, etc. Sundance is a great place to honor all the special moments in our lives, but the one we most like to celebrate is our anniversary.

My husband and I held our wedding reception in Provo Canyon surrounded by lush mountain beauty. The majestic views, verdant meadows and fresh summer air at Sundance remind me of that day thirteen years ago, making it the perfect place to celebrate our romance. Indeed, many couples choose to host their wedding at Sundance for its picturesque setting on their perfect day.

Try these options to feel the romance at Sundance.

Delicious Dining

Delicious food has always been a part of romance, whether it’s feeding your significant other on a sun-drenched picnic blanket or gazing into their eyes during a candlelit dinner. Whatever your ideal romantic meal, Sundance has you covered.

  • Pick up a sandwich from the Sundance Deli and take Ray’s lift for a mountain picnic.
  • Plan a lunch date Bearclaw Cabin and enjoy the view.
  • Enjoy a gourmet meal in the elegant Tree Room.
  • Eat tasty mountain fare in the Foundry Grill.
  • Grab a night cap at the Owl Bar and enjoy live music on the weekends.

For our anniversary, we had a romantic meal at Foundry Grill. From the tempura fried artichoke heart appetizer to the s’mores cheesecake, the meal satisfied both our stomachs and our hearts. The food tasted so delicious, I daydreamed about it the following day, but the ambiance really set the perfect romantic scene.

A glazed pork chop served on a bed of greens and garnished with scallions and toasted hazelnuts, beautifully plated on a white dish.

Soft lighting invited us to lean in close and whisper. On one wall, a floor to ceiling mural of wild horses filled our view. With the stone fireplace and wildflowers outside the window, it’s the perfect place to gaze at the one you love.

Things to Do

Dinner can be a celebration all its own, but if you’re looking for a romantic activity to accompany the meal, Sundance offers several options for both summer and winter.

In years past my husband and I have celebrated our anniversary on the grass seats of the summer theatre, listening to the Utah Symphony Orchestra or country singer/songwriters in the Bluebird cafe concert series or enjoying a gourmet meal on top of the world as part of the Bearclaw Supper Club. One year we stayed overnight and hiked the nearby Timpanogos Cave National Monument.

This year the plan was to enjoy dinner and then snuggle close under the light of a beautiful full moon on a full moon lift ride. We would watch the stars blink alive and reminisce on our years together and the years yet to come.

Whatever your reason to celebrate, enjoy the romance at Sundance Mountain Resort. There’s something truly special about majestic mountains, cool alpine breezes, and the sound of rushing water. The beauty of the environment heightens feelings of connection as you stare into the eyes of the one you love. Ah Amoré!
