As the winter snow melts into spring, Sundance Mountain Resort heads into a “shoulder season” between ski runs and hiking trails. Whether you’re seeking adventure or relaxation, this transitional period offers the best of both worlds. From enjoying some of the best fly fishing conditions of the year to getting some well-deserved R&R at our new Springs amenity, there is always a way to connect with art and nature at the resort.
Just five minutes from Sundance Mountain Resort is one of the premier Blue Ribbon trout fisheries in the world: The Provo River. For outdoor enthusiasts and passionate anglers, the Provo River offers the best fly fishing conditions of the year during March, April and May. Coming out of winter, the fish are hungry and eager to eat their favorite bugs, which are just starting to emerge and hatch.
The Provo River is known for its large German Brown Trout, easy wading access, prolific hatches and stunning beauty. As the river and landscape come back to life with the arrival of spring, it’s one of the most idyllic times of year to cast a line. Led by expert fly fishing guides, Sundance offers excursions and clinics for anglers of all ability levels. Spring is the perfect time to get those boots wet, hone rusty fly fishing skills and rediscover the magic of nature’s favorite sport.
Lodging guests are invited to enjoy The Springs, our new trio of rest and relaxation pools. Nestled in the shadow of Mount Timpanogos, these hot pools are the perfect place for rest, relaxation and reflection. The Springs, located near all lodging units, features two smaller hot-tub size pools, one large pool, a barrel sauna and an outdoor shower. Private and cozy, The Springs are a perfect way to soothe sore ski season muscles and ease into the warmer seasons ahead. Guests can also unwind at our thoughtfully designed spa, which offers a range of healing modalities to deliver authentic and effective natural therapies for body, beauty and balance. Take advantage of The Springs and Spa with our Spring Spa & Wellness package, featuring 30% off lodging rooms and 20% off spa services through May 18.
Unleash your creative potential by visiting the Sundance Art Studio and Gallery. Visit the gallery to view a rotating selection of pieces from local artists, or spend two hours in an Art Studio class and take away a lasting memory from your visit. Single-session workshops are available for jewelry making, wheel-thrown pottery, leather journal making, painting, drawing, printmaking, soap making, and perfume making. All classes are tailored to each individual’s ability level, from beginner to experienced artists. All our workshops and classes are open to both resort and day guests and are available all twelve months of the year.
Whether you’re drawn to the rhythmic dance of the Provo River’s “Golden Hour,” seeking solace in the rejuvenating waters of The Springs, or igniting your creative spirit at the Sundance Art Studio and Gallery, there’s an undeniable allure to the shoulder season. Embrace this moment of quietude and renewal and savor the magic of Sundance, where adventure and relaxation converge in perfect harmony.
