History of the Owl Bar: the Restoration of a Legend

The fascinating history of the Owl Bar dates back to the 1890s, when it was originally located in Thermopolis, Wyoming. The original Rosewood Bar served as a watering hole for cowboys and other travelers, including Butch Cassidy’s Hole in the Wall Gang. A century later, Robert Redford brought it to Sundance to restore it and turn it into the Owl Bar, where the bar and bar back are still originals from the 1890s.

One of the things that sets the Owl Bar apart from other bars is its unique ambiance. The dimly lit interior, combined with the crackling of the fireplace and the soft sounds of live music, creates a cozy and intimate atmosphere that is perfect for enjoying a drink or a meal with friends and family.
