Everything at Sundance has a story to tell, but the centerpiece of our history lies at the Owl Bar. Steeped in the stories of old and unique ambiance, with creative cocktails and delicious food, the Owl Bar has something for any guest at Sundance.
The fascinating history of the Owl Bar dates back to the 1890s, when it was originally located in Thermopolis, Wyoming. The original Rosewood Bar served as a watering hole for cowboys and other travelers, including Butch Cassidy’s Hole in the Wall Gang. A century later, Robert Redford brought it to Sundance to restore it and turn it into the Owl Bar, where the bar and bar back are still originals from the 1890s.
One of the things that sets the Owl Bar apart from other bars is its unique ambiance. The dimly lit interior, combined with the crackling of the fireplace and the soft sounds of live music, creates a cozy and intimate atmosphere that is perfect for enjoying a drink or a meal with friends and family. The bar also features a number of unique touches, including photos of the original Butch Cassidy and his gang, as well as images of Robert Redford’s adaptation of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
The year-round patio at the Owl Bar is situated near the river with a fireplace, offering guests an outdoor atmosphere to enjoy food, music, and libations in the midst of nature’s beauty in every season.
The Owl Bar’s menu is as memorable as its history, full of creative cocktails, unique beer and wine selections, and inventive seasonal cuisine. We highly recommend a night at the Owl Bar for a casual, intimate, and unforgettable dining experience at the resort!
Live music is an integral part of the experience at the Owl Bar. Local musicians and bands play at the bar most weekends, providing the perfect backdrop for your cozy evening out. From jazz to country to rock, the Owl Bar offers a diverse range of music and artists. You can find the lineup of upcoming artists here.
In addition to regular performances, the bar also hosts special events and themed nights, such as whiskey tastings and holiday celebrations. Whether you’re a music lover or just looking for a fun night out, the Owl Bar’s live music scene is a Sundance staple enjoyed by all!
Whether you’re a local looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a drink with friends, or a visitor looking for a taste of the Wild West, the Owl Bar is the perfect destination for an unforgettable evening at Sundance.
