Explore Creativity with the Sundance Visiting Artist Program
November 17, 2023
An Immersive Art Experience Like No Other
Here at Sundance, a value for the arts is at the very core of who we are. From day one, Sundance has not only captivated visitors with its stunning natural beauty, but also strived to enrich the cultural experience through creativity. At the heart of this initiative lies the Sundance Art Studio, a haven for local Utah artists to showcase their talents and connect with a community that values art, nature, and camaraderie. Through our unique Visiting Artist Program, we explore diverse mediums, host engaging events, and display the seamless integration of art and nature.
Escape the Mundane at the Sundance Art Studio
At the epicenter of this artistic endeavor is the Sundance Art Studio, an enchanting space that serves as a canvas for local Utah artists each month. The studio curates a selection of artwork, ranging from framed pieces to captivating prints, showcasing a rich tapestry of mediums. From oil paintings to photography, watercolor to collage, the diversity of artistic expression is on full display, providing guests with a visually stimulating and culturally enriching experience.
Through the Visiting Artist program, specific artists’ pieces are put on display for four weeks at a time, following an artist presentation. Upcoming artists include Günther Vonhaiderthal beginning November 25, Ash Mae Hoiland beginning December 23, Seth Johnson beginning January 20, Meagan Johnson beginning February 17, and Anne Kaferle beginning March 16.
Interact With the Artists and the Beauty of Sundance
The first Saturday of every month brings a special treat for art enthusiasts and resort guests alike. Sundance hosts live demonstrations where featured artists create art right there in the studio. This interactive showcase allows visitors to witness the artists in their element, providing a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the creative process of each artist. The connection between the artist and the audience deepens as onlookers gain insights into the techniques and inspirations that shape each masterpiece.
One of the unique aspects of Sundance’s Visiting Artist Program is the emphasis on the synergy between art and nature. As a part of our commitment to community, nature, and art as core values, we encourage participating artists to immerse themselves in the scenic surroundings. The resort becomes a living canvas, inspiring artists to draw from the breathtaking landscapes and infuse their creations with the spirit of the mountains. This connection between art and nature creates a harmonious blend that resonates with both artists and guests.
Making Meaningful, Lasting Connections
Here at Sundance, we pride ourselves on being a gathering place for like-minded individuals who share a passion for community, nature, and art. The Visiting Artist Program becomes a bridge that connects local Utah artists with the vibrant Sundance community. Through their displayed works and live demonstrations, artists not only showcase their talents but also establish meaningful connections with visitors who appreciate and value their art.
The Sundance Visiting Artist Program transcends the boundaries of a traditional art exhibition. It is a celebration of creativity, a collaboration between artists and nature, and a connection between individuals who share a profound appreciation for community and art. The Sundance Art Studio, with its monthly rotations of local Utah talent, stands as a testament to our long-standing commitment to fostering an environment where artistic expression flourishes, leaving an indelible mark on the cultural fabric of Sundance.
