Sundance Summer Theatre Presents a Magical New Experience

Enjoy an Outdoor Summer Event Like No Other

If you’re planning a visit to our family resort in Utah this summer, don’t miss your opportunity to experience the Summer Theatre — a Sundance tradition since 1970! Set beneath the shadow of magnificent Mt. Timpanogos, a show in our outdoor theater is a family-friendly activity like no other. If the setting alone isn’t enchanting enough, we’re spinning up a little extra magic with this year’s show: Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella.

Magic at the Summer Theatre

Our Cinderella and Prince Charming

Imagine all the best things about a Utah summer night — the stars above in a clear sky, a mountain silhouette overhead, the smell of aspen trees as the cool mountain air sends a breeze through them — and then add top-notch entertainment the entire family will enjoy. That’s the magic of Sundance Summer Theatre, one of the most beloved summer activities at the resort!

Seating options vary in our outdoor theater, but rest assured there is not a bad seat in the house! Purchase tickets for assigned seats in the bench seating area closer to the stage, or enjoy a general admission spot on the lawn. We recommend bringing blankets to sit on (lawn chairs must be lower than 24” in height) for those purchasing general admission tickets.

If you plan to purchase lawn tickets, spots are first-come, first served. We suggest being there when the gates open at 7 p.m. if you want to secure the best spot! Guests are able to make their way up to the amphitheater to wait in line as early as 6 p.m., so plan accordingly and get ready to make some new friends in line!

Local Partnership Since 2008

The arts have always been an integral part of the Sundance Story, and it has been a pleasure to partner with Utah Valley University’s School of the Arts since 2008 in the production of our summer shows. All actors in our productions come from either UVU’s theater department or from surrounding universities. We love partnering with these talented artists every summer! Titles they’ve performed on the Sundance stage in the past include Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof, Mamma Mia, and more.

Enjoy a Modern Take on a Classic Tale, Beneath the Utah Summer Sky

Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella is a reinvented Broadway adaptation of the Disney classic. This production at the Summer Theatre features Rodgers & Hammerstein’s most beloved songs, including “In My Own Little Corner,” “Impossible/It’s Possible,” and “Ten Minutes Ago.” This modern, comical, and romantic telling of Cinderella brings a touch of magic you won’t want to miss!

You know how the story goes: a girl from the cinders finds her prince against all odds and in the most magical way. What makes seeing this show at the Sundance Summer Theatre extra magical, though, is the setting! The moonlit ballroom dance and the horse-drawn carriage, under the stars of a Utah summer sky in the shadow of Mt. Timpanogos, are truly breathtaking. This will be the outdoor summer event your family talks about for the rest of the year!
