Join us for a live demonstration from Meagan Johnson in the Art Studio on February 17.
Artist Statement: As an artist from a small town in Arkansas and currently living in the colorful vistas of Salt Lake City, I find inspiration for my photography and paintings in the world around me.
I thrive on variety and moved to Utah specifically to pursue my dream in sports photography and surround myself with landscapes that inspire me. My day job consists of creating photo and video content for Real Salt Lake and the Utah Royals. Much of my free time is consumed with painting and photographing landscapes, portraits, and various events. Niching into a specific category of art is an impossible task for me. I see my various experiences as a chance to bring the knowledge I’ve gained from one field into the next.
Much of my current work is a reflection of cross country road trips I have taken, with a particular affinity for the west coast. Western landscapes have always caught my attention with their vibrant colors and warmth. I love experimenting with paint and am drawn to oil, watercolor, and
coffee as my preferred mediums.
I usually don’t create with specific themes in mind or predetermined meanings. For me, art is an exploration, a personal challenge, and above all, a joyful process. Each brushstroke and click of the camera is an opportunity for me to push myself creatively and immerse myself in thesheer joy of creating.
See Meagan’s artwork on display and for purchase from February 17 – March 15 in the Art Studio.
