Visiting Artist – Monica Bright
Monica Bright is best known for her symbolic linoleum prints. She is fascinated by patterns and the interconnectedness they reveal. Whether they are patterns of behavior, patterns of cause and effect, or patterns of nature; all end up finding symbolic meaning in her work. Life is also full of contradictions. And by combining symbolic pattern, animals, and textural elements she expresses the tension of trying to find balance between dichotomous desires.
Monica received her B.F.A. in printmaking from Utah State University in 1998, is a member of the international Baren Forum, and has works held in various museums. She works her “day job” of instructing eager high school students a variety of mediums during the school year and focuses on her work throughout the year. She lives in Star, Idaho with her husband, two sons, a cat, and a dog.
