Celebrate Independent Storytelling Where it all Began
Storytelling has always been the soul of Sundance, and visiting the resort during the Sundance Film Festival is one of the most unique experiences you can have here on the mountain. When Robert Redford bought the land we enjoy at Sundance today, the dream was always to build a community committed to the balance of art and nature. Every January, we get to celebrate that dream realized during the film festival.
A Space for Artists to Create and Thrive Since 1981
The Sundance Institute began in 1981 when Robert Redford and a few others started the non-profit as a champion and curator of independent stories. That year, they invited 10 filmmakers to the resort to develop their original independent projects.
By 1985, the Sundance Institute took over the United States Film Festival, hosted in Park City, Utah, and rebranded it the Sundance Film Festival. Since 1985, hundreds of films launched at the festival have gone on to gain critical acclaim and reach new audiences worldwide. Today, the Sundance Institute supports more than 900 artists each year, and each January, the festival introduces a global audience to groundbreaking work and emerging talent in independent film.
Most of the festival still takes place in Park City, however, there is always a director’s brunch hosted at Sundance Resort to kick off the festival. We also have a screening room at the resort that seats 144 people, and shows four screenings per day during the entire run of the Sundance Film Festival.
Priority Access for Resort Guests
Want to experience the film festival right here where it all began? Enjoy a stay full of creativity and inspiration in one of our private mountain cottages with our Film Festival Ticket Package. We have an exclusive partnership with the festival to provide film packages to lodging guests who book with Sundance, where they can select 10 tickets before the general public to screenings at Sundance Resort.
This is a great opportunity to experience the Sundance Film Festival in the place where it all started! Of course, since the festival takes place right in the middle of ski season, you will also be able to enjoy a variety of winter activities between film screenings during your stay! We can’t wait for you to experience this unique and inspiring balance of art and nature.
Additional ticket packages can be purchased at $650 each, with a maximum of 3 packages per reservation. Call 800-892-1600 to book.
