Fireside Fine Dining for Your Romantic Utah Getaway
There’s no magic quite like cozying up by a fire with your significant other while the snow falls outside, sharing a memorable meal in a romantic environment. Whether you’re staying with us on the mountain or you’re a local looking for a great date night spot, Sundance offers three unique fireside dining experiences.
Our philosophy is that food is art, and every culinary adventure on the mountain brims with beauty and passion. Fine dining is integrated with nature in a captivating and unforgettable way at each of our restaurants at the resort, and we’re particularly fond of our fireside options during the winter months!
Fireside at the Foundry Grill
Our most popular dining establishment when it comes to a meal by the fire is the Foundry Grill, which is quite literally centered around fire. A fire urges people to gather together, and is used as a humble way of cooking. The delectable seasonal flavors are achieved through cooking techniques centered around the open “Foundry” kitchen. The rustic, homey mountain aesthetic paired with farm-to-table fresh mountain cuisine is the perfect marriage of comfort and class.
While nods to fireside-dwelling can be found throughout the Foundry Grill, the fireplace is by far the most romantic experience. Guests can enjoy a table by the fireplace in the back room – which happens to be Robert Redford’s favorite seat in the house, and our most requested spot for romantic dinners. Just make sure you request a spot in this area when you make your reservation!
An Intimate Meal at the Tree Room
For guests looking for the most elegant fine dining experience at Sundance, our Forbes Four-Star Tree Room restaurant is a dreamy mixture of impeccable cuisine and intimate atmosphere. Dine by candlelight that softly illuminates beautiful Native American art from Robert Redford’s private collection. The award-winning seasonal mountain cuisine is second to none, and as our food-as-art philosophy would suggest, meals at the Tree Room are gorgeously plated.
If a space at the resort could tell a story, the Tree Room would hold some of the richest tales of the history of Sundance. The Tree Room was the first building Robert Redford built on the property in 1970 – a cabin constructed around an actual tree. Next to the tree is a large fireplace designed & made by Robert Redford himself. Large windows allow for panoramic views of the nature surrounding the building, which is especially breathtaking during a fresh snowfall.
The elegance of the menu meets the cozy setting and attentive, familial staff to provide a fine dining experience that feels more like coming home than dining out. Our award-winning cuisine changes seasonally, but you can always count on mountain favorites prepared with the freshest local ingredients. Don’t forget to leave room for dessert!
Reservations are recommended at the Four-Star restaurant, and children under the age of 12 are not permitted at the Tree Room. The food is fancy, but the mountain casual dress code of the resort remains at the Tree Room.
Owl Bar: A Toast to the Outlaw in us All
This restored 1890s bar once frequented by Butch Cassidy was moved from Thermopolis, Wyoming to Sundance! The Owl Bar is the most casual of the 3 fireside restaurants at the resort, but its history and rustic atmosphere make for a uniquely exciting date night. Cozy up near the fireplace for creative cocktails, beer and wine as well as an inventive, seasonal menu.
The patio at the Owl Bar doesn’t exactly have a fireside option, but there are heaters, and views of the ski slopes make for some entertaining spectating during night skiing. The Owl Bar also hosts local and national musical talent on select Friday and Saturday nights beginning at 8 p.m., so if you enjoy live music, this is a great option for some date night entertainment.
Enjoy a casual meal from the bar menu, including BBQ nachos, a wagyu burger, and a great selection of shareables such as a Bavarian pretzel, beet salad, fried pickles, and wings. The Owl Bar does not take reservations, so be prepared to be seated on a first-come first-serve basis. Patrons of the Owl Bar must be at least 21 years of age.
Whether you’re a local looking for a date night or staycation, or you’re planning a romantic getaway in Utah, fine dining at Sundance is a memorable and unique experience. We can’t wait for you to pull up a chair at one of our tables and enjoy all that the magic of Sundance has to offer!
