Sundance is thrilled to announce the coming of the Sundance Zip Line Tour in Spring 2015!  Anticipated to be one of the most exciting and scenic Zip Tours in the World, the Sunadnce Zip Line Tour will boast the most vertical drop of any Zip Line Tour in the United States with over 2,100 feet of vertical drop.

The Sundance Kids Camp is an active nature day camp that will offer Campers a unique and memorable experience each day. Our Camp activities will be inspired by weekly themes (see list) that will excite and challenge campers. Each day of Camp will include opportunities for:

2014 Schedule and Themes

June 2 - 6 Animal Adventures

Campers will explore many native animal species, make casts of tracks, examine insects and use animals as a source of inspiration for art. They will also interact with rescued wildlife and learn about how humans and other animals are connected.

June 9 - 13 Fit & Fun

Campers will have fun doing healthy outdoor activities like yoga, hiking, biking, relays, martial arts and obstacle courses. They will learn why it is important to be active and healthy. Campers will also participate in fun activities aimed at improving their social and emotional wellness, such as cooperative games and art exploration.

June 16 - 20 Art in Nature

Campers will find inspiration from all that Sundance has to offer, exploring the forests, streams, meadows, mountains, Native American traditions and wildlife. Campers will also explore culinary, dance, music and theatrical arts.

June 23 - 27 Science in Nature

Campers will explore natural science in plant and animal life, weather, geology and their own bodies by engaging in fun and interesting experiments. Campers will design and conduct their own experiments, with the help of Camp Leaders, based on personal learning interests.

June 30 - July 3 Camp Out

Campers will practice basic outdoor camping skills, learn about Leave No Trace, explore local plant and animal species, and create fun activities to use on their next family camping trip!

July 7 - 11 Water World

Campers will get wet in this week of water exploration! They will learn about water eco-systems, including the streams, ponds and riparian zones of Sundance and cool off with water obstacle courses and games.
They will examine species that depend on a healthy water supply to survive and consider how humans influence water supplies.

July 14 - 18 Eco Rangers

Campers will learn how they can help their local, regional and global eco-community by participating in recycling , plantings and other projects. Campers will also play games, create art, enjoy music and have fun!

July 21 - 25 Survivor Kids

Campers will learn wilderness survival basics to use when camping and hiking, including basic first aid skills. They will meet the Sundance Rescue Team, including our awesome avalanche dogs, and learn how they train to save lives. Campers will also play games, go on scavenger hunts and create cool art.

July 28 - Aug 1 Wasatch Wild

This camp is all about the uniqueness of the Wasatch Mountains. Through stories, games, nature hunts and art campers will learn about the area and explore native plants and animals. They will learn about Native American heritage and explore the cultural traditions of the area’s earliest inhabitants.

Aug 4 - 8 Science Rocks

Campers will discover the geology of Sundance and learn the history of Mt. Timpanogos. They will explore the canyon for fossils, participate in a simulated fossil “dig,” and perform experiments and play games to understand concepts of earth science. They will explore how humans and animals have adapted to the geological features of the environment.

Horseback Riding

Located in one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in the world, the stables are the perfect place to experience horseback riding at its finest. Enjoy breathtaking scenery as you traverse through pristine mountain terrain. Catch a view of the beautiful Stewart Falls, listen to the sounds of nature and enjoy your cowboy guide as he/she leads you on a trail ride with your trusty mountain horse.

Here at the stables, we know the value in your experiences and memories. We want them to remain personal to you and your party. All rides are either private groups or no more than 6 people per ride. We don't believe in long lines and boring nose-to-tail rides. Our stables have one of the best trail systems in the world. You will be captivated by the mountain surroundings and scenery. All rides are conducted by Boulder Mountain Ranch, our preferred horseback riding outfitter.

General Information

  • Reservations are required. All rides must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. Contact our Concierge to make a reservation.
  • All rides are western style and include a short instructional arena lesson before the trip begins.
  • Children must be at least 8 years or older to participate on a trail ride. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • One rider per horse – absolutely no double riding.
  • Our trails are walking only.
  • There is no weight limit. However, riders must be physically able to mount their horse unassisted.
  • Group discounts are available (50 percent deposit required for all groups larger than 15 and/or any private function or activity).
  • Maximum group size is 20 guests with one guide per six guests.
  • Groups of 6 or more are automatically charged an 18 percent gratuity.
  • Ride times are approximate due to different variables that can come up on each ride.
  • Please arrive 20 minutes prior to scheduled ride.

  • Cancellations inside of 24 hours will be charged in full.
  • Group reservations for 7 or more people require a 72-hour cancellation notice.

Horseback Trail Rides & Pricing

Elk Meadows Trail Ride

Travel through aspen groves and beautiful alpine meadows on this relaxing ride. This particular ride is especially recommended for first time horseback riders and/or children. No chance of getting saddle sore on this one.

  • Approximately 1 Hour.
  • $65 per person.
  • Rides at 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
  • Ride times subject to seasonal changes.

Stewart Falls Trail Ride

Follow your guide through the forest with spectacular views of the Wasatch Mountains and Mount Timpanogos. Enjoy a brief pause as you admire the cascading water of the Stewart Falls. Listen to your guide as they teach you about the history of Sundance and this amazing canyon. Suitable for most riders and is by far our most popular ride. Voted number one by all guests who have been riding anywhere else in the world.

  • Approximately 2 Hours.
  • $85 per person.
  • Rides at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
  • Ride times subject to seasonal changes.

Sunset Trail Ride

Enjoy the refreshing cool of evening as you explore mountain vistas. Watch closely for our nocturnal friends to come out. This ride is popular for wildlife lovers who want to catch a peek of elk, deer, or even a moose.

  • Approximately 2 Hours.
  • $105 per person.
  • Ride begins at 4:30 p.m.
  • Limited availability. Reservations required.
  • Ride times subject to seasonal changes.

Great Western Trail Ride

Travel along mountain trails, past aspen forests, and through open meadows to Horse Flat. Here you have inspiring views of the mountains looming above as you breathe the fresh mountain air. Recommended only to those with previous riding experience.

  • Approximately 3 Hours.
  • $135 per person (includes lunch).
  • 2 person minimum.
  • Tuesday & Thursday Only.
  • Rides begin at 10:00 a.m.
  • Limited availability. Reservations required.
  • Ride times subject to seasonal changes.

River Rafting

Take a rafting trip down the Provo River and enjoy the mountains in a whole new way! To ensure the best rafting experience, group sizes are kept small, generally 4-6 people in a raft. The 3 or 4-hour river rafting trips include: state-of-the-art rafts, life vests, friendly guides and complimentary soft drinks. Guides are CPR and first-aid certified and work to make sure everyone has a safe, enjoyable time.

Guests are welcome to paddle along or just sit back and relax. Please indicate to your guide before your trip if you’d like a “paddle” boat. Round-trip shuttle service from the Resort is available for an additional fee. Our preferred river rafting service offers mild whitewater trips (class II) for people of all ages for over 20 years. Also offered is Kayaking.

Golfing

Sundance Mountain Resort is located near some of the finest golf courses in Utah. Enjoy a day of golfing at one of these championship courses during your stay.

Homestead
The Homestead golf course, located only 20 minutes from Sundance, is a par 72 course measuring 7,017 yards from the back tees and plays 5,091 yards from the forward tees. Course rating is 73.0 from the back tees and 68.2 from the forward.

To improve your game, they also have a practice putting green, chipping green, driving range and club rentals. The Homestead golf shop is above par (unlike a game of golf, that’s a good thing) with golfing attire, shoes, clubs and equipment for men, women and children.

Soldier Hollow
Soldier Hollow Golf Course is the newest addition to Utah’s beautiful Wasatch Mountain State Park. The championship, 36-hole facility completes the year-round recreation programs at the 2002 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games venue. Two 18-hole courses – appropriately named the Gold and Silver courses – offer challenging play for golfers of all abilities and amazing views of the Heber Valley and majestic Mount Timpanogos. Only 20 minutes from Sundance, Soldier Hollow offers a par 72 course measuring 7,598 yards.
