Robbie Preece, Camp Coordinator

“Hello and thank you for visiting the Sundance Kids Camp! I am the Camp Coordinator and I oversee all camp operations, staff and programming.

Camp was amazing last season and I am looking forward to an even better summer this year. Sundance is the perfect place for self-discovery and life-changing experiences—even at a young age. I keep that guiding principle in mind when planning and managing every part of Camp.

Katie Smurthwaite

“My name is Katie, and I am so excited for Kids Camp this year! I have worked at summer camps for over seven years and look forward to a beautiful summer at Sundance.

I graduated from BYU last year with a degree in fine arts. I am an artist and love to paint and throw pottery. I also love sports, especially soccer, basketball, tennis and snowboarding. I played NCAA Division I soccer for BYU and have done a lot of coaching.”

Mike Palfreyman

“Hi, my name is Mike Palfreyman and I’ve been working at Sundance for just over a year and a half. I truly love it here! Every time I travel up the canyon I get excited because I know I’m going to have fun at work. Sundance has an amazing atmosphere. Anyone who spends time at Sundance eventually falls in love with it—just like I did!

This will be my second season as a camp counselor. I especially like how the Kids Camp offers children the opportunity to explore and experience all that nature has to offer. It is so rewarding to see the kids out and actively learning about the world.”

Mindy Smith

“My name is Mindy Smith and I am a senior in Human Development at BYU. I love reading, spending time outdoors, eating chocolate, playing the piano, and participating in sports.

I am excited to be a part of this year’s summer camp! I love learning through exploring. Sundance is a perfect setting to learn more about our environment through fun activities! I love working with, learning from, and laughing with kids! This summer camp will be filled with fun and adventures!”

Jamie Duston

“My name is Jamie Dutson. I am 22 years old and from a small town in Utah called Lynndyl. I love camping, fishing, swimming, and hiking. I also have a deep love for music, especially the guitar. I hope to someday teach geography and health and possibly coach water polo on the side.

I love the outdoors and am very excited to be spending the summer Sundance! I’m positive that there’s no better way to spend one’s time than to be in nature. I’m looking forward to being with kids and enjoying the outdoors.”

Greg King

“Hello, my name is Greg! I’m looking forward to getting to know you. I have mostly grown up Utah and have also lived throughout the Southwestern United States. I love to travel to new places, but I especially love Utah—there are so many fun things to do outside here!

I love to go snowboarding, mountain biking, rock climbing, and camping. I also love to play a variety of sports. I enjoy drawing, playing the guitar and playing the piano. I mostly just love being in the outdoors where I can be close to nature.

I have worked at Sundance the last four winters as a snowboard instructor. I’m excited to be there again this summer. I love Sundance because I get to meet new people, and I get to be in a fun and beautiful environment.”
