information for parents
What to bring
Each child must bring the following to camp:
- A backpack
- A water bottle
- Sturdy shoes (flip flops, “Crocs,” and sandals can fall off while riding the chairlift)
- A hat
- A jacket
- We provide sunscreen, but if your child has specific preferences for sunscreen, please pack your favored brand.
- Please pack your child a lunch if you did not purchase one through camp. Please, no peanuts or peanut butter!
What your child can expect
- A fun day! Our fun and energetic counselors are specially trained to provide each child with an outstanding camp experience.
- A learning day! Each day we cover specific topics and make sure each camper goes home having learned something.
- Wildlife! Camp takes place at the Sundance Preserve. Sightings of hawks, ground squirrels, songbirds, fish and insects are most common. Some campers with sharp eyes may see deer, elk, sheep, or even a moose!
- A day outside! Approximately two-thirds of each day is spent outdoors.
- Hiking! We spend a notable amount of time each day hiking. Most hiking in camp is lift-served and thus flat or downhill.
- The Wild Bunch usually hike about 1 mile.
- The Sundance Kids may hike up to 3 miles.
- Each Wednesday, all age groups hike to Stewart Falls (3 miles).
- Individual attention! We set the maximum ratio of counselors to campers at 1:8 to make sure your child gets the attention they need.
