(Sundance, UT ) December 2007---- Recent snowfalls have made Sundance the benefactor of more than a foot of fresh powder, ensuring that the resort will open to good snowsports conditions. The resort will open its winter snowsports season on Dec. 7th. With this opening, much of the front mountain will be open on Friday, with the exact percentage being determined by further predicted storms.
Even without the recent snow, Sundance Mountain Operations was already busily preparing for the Dec. 7th opening. With a 25% increase in snowmaking capacity and cold temperatures, the snowmaking guns had been working since the 15th of November on covering the mountain in order to open on the targeted date.
“We are very pleased with this past great snow storm, since resorts in Utah, including Sundance, had very little before it. Now, with the very effective snowmaking and a fantastic storm over the weekend, we are well on our way to a great season. We will now be able to open more terrain with each new upcoming storm,” commented Jerry Warren, Director of Sundance Mountain Operations.
On December 15th, in cooperation with Park’s Sportsmen in Orem, major manufactures for skiing and snowboarding will have booths set up at Sundance at the base of Ray’s lift for Sundance guests to try out the latest and greatest equipment. Demo equipment is free to our guests who have a lift pass for the day. Manufacturers currently scheduled to be on hand include K2 Skis and Snowboards, Rossignol, Volkl, Nordica, and Palmer Snowboards.
