(Sundance, UT) March 31, 2005----Sundance closes a record winter ski/snowboard season on April 2nd. Strong season pass sales, combined with a great year for snow fostered record numbers in skier visits and a 19 percent increase in day and season pass sales from the 2003-2004 season. Though recent snow storms have brought in fresh powder, the resort will adhere to its targeted winter season closing date of April 2nd, 2005.
In a special effort to reward loyal Sundance Season Pass holders, Sundance is partnering with Alta Ski Resort to provide an alternative ski area at a special day rate of $37. Sundance Season Pass holders who present their pass may ski at the special rate. The regular Alta day rate is $47.
“Though we would love to stay open longer, predicted warming trends and the varied interest of our guests just doesn’t make it feasible to extend the season,” commented Jerry Warren, director of mountain operations. “However, we are very grateful for our loyal supporters, which is why we have formed a partnership with Alta that will extend the winter season for skiers who aren’t quite ready for spring.”
“In addition, since our Season Pass is good for winter and summer, we look forward to seeing our pass holders when we reopen for the summer biking and hiking season in May,” said Warren.
